How to Manage Chronic Pain, with Adam Siu

Managing CHRONIC PAIN with Adam Siu | Ep. 40 🎙️

This week we had a brilliant conversation with someone who suffered with back pain for many years, until he eventually found ways to manage it,

He now helps others to overcome their pain and he shares some fantastic insights into the unique methods he uses.

Adam Sui suffered with back pain as a teenager and it plagued a large portion of his childhood. Whether led by the pain or not, he eventually did a masters in physiotherapy, but still couldn't cure his own pain.

He would regaulry ask fellow class mates and tutors but no one seem to have any answers. He had sports massage's, acupuncture, did countlesss stretches. Always providing short term releif, but always coming back with what he describes as 'a vengeance'.

After delving deeper into his condition and seeking solutions, Adam discovered a breathing technique that greatly alleviated his chronic pain and appeared to work not only in the short term, but also gave him long term relief.

Adams now an occupational, musculoskeletal & pain physio, a Dad, a husband and one very strong lad, training out of CrossFit Kelham in Sheffield.

He’s passionate about teaching those he works with to live pain free with his understanding that the body has the capability to heal and improve at any age.

One of the most fascinating things I took from our conversation, was how Adam still has flair ups now, which can often be brought about by treating clients with similar back related pain to his.

Despite experiencing pain himself, this man, who is dedicated to assisting others with back pain, continues to offer support and essential aid to those he helps on a weekly basis.

They say not all superheroes wear capes, Adam Siu certainly does not (or at least he didn't when we interviewed him).

Through his business Down2U physiotherapy, he now helps a whole manner of patients. His instagram in littered with stroke patients who haven't moved for years now running. People with back pain deadlifting. Even a lady with spondylolisthesis squatting.

Myself and brad both commended adam on how forward thinking he is with his appraoch to recovery and getting his patients doing exercises that other physios stay well clear of. Or as he put it "are scared to approach'.

If taught in the right way they can be a game changer then it comes to chronic pain reocvery.

His mission now is to provide the most appropriate advice, treatment and exercise for you to help yourself. Because in his own words “movement is medicine”.

If you suffer from chronic pain and want answers, this is one you won’t want to miss.
